All Saints 2006 Lenten Project

Our Christian education classes organized a brunch to raise funds for purchasing school supplies to donate to children abroad through Church World Services, a “longtime partner of IOCC” (International Orthodox Christian Charities).  We held the brunch on the feast of the Annunciation (Sunday, March 25) to raise money to pay for the supplies.  After Lazarus Saturday Liturgy on the 31st, students packed the bags.  This was an excellent opportunity to serve and further prepare us to follow the Lord to His voluntary Passion as we entered into Holy Week. 

By putting together a "Gift of the Heart" school kit, we gave a less fortunate child the tools needed to do well in school. Church World Service collected the kits at a warehouse facility, prepared them for shipment and worked together with IOCC to make sure these kits reached their destination. We also had a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone that participated in this worthwhile event.
